BigCommerce was founded in 2009 as a company to provide software solutions for enterprise businesses. They expanded to include more basic services like their CMS option.

Squarespace was started in 2003 to bring an easy to use drag and drop website builder to the market. It has grown greatly since then and became a publicly listed company in 2020.
